Department of Clinical Psychology

The Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal (MAKAUT), formally known as WBUT (West Bengal University of Technology) recognized by UGC in collaboration with George Group of Colleges, unit of the George Telegraph Group has introduced The Department of Clinical Psychology in the year 2020 with the aim to provide efficient training to aspiring psychologists.

The Department was created to train aspiring mental health professionals so that they can render their services to the society. As there is a surge in mental health issues among all ages including children, adolescence, adult and geriatric population, professionals are required to cater to address the mental health issues.

The Department comprises of multitude courses like Masters in Clinical Psychology, Post Graduate Diploma in Psychological Counselling, Certificate course on Healthcare Counseling and Certificate course on Psychological Assessment.

The Department also comprises a Psychology Laboratory which provides a platform for all the practical experiences for the students. The Laboratory comprises of all the psychological test materials and psychometric assessments for training purpose of students.

The Department comprises of efficient and Qualified Professors to train and guide their students to make them ready to practice in the field of mental health.

There are opportunities for internship programs given to the students each semester in various clinics, hospitals, special schools, rehabilitation centers, NGO, industrial set up and academic institutions.

The department emphasis on research work and is engaged in conducting workshops, seminars, internship and placement.

The campus consists of a library which is a reservoir of various books on different branches of psychology namely Cognitive Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Personality, Counselling and Psychotherapy, Research Methodology, Social Psychology, Gender Psychology, Physiological Psychology, Industrial Psychology, Statistics and others. It is a store house of text books, reference books and industry journals. The College has e-library systems for every student. The stock of books and periodicals are regularly updated to empower our students and teachers in their research work.
